Thank you for visiting Chicago Local Bands - Chicago's Fastest Growing Music Resource! Newsletter
Why This Site Exists Since we started recruiting bands in the summer of 1999, people have always asked us why we created this site. No one has answered the question more eloquently than Brad Seiner, our senior editor: This is for all the music lovers that have been dragged to places they didn't want to go and didn't have the money to spend at. Only to bore their friends and co-workers with the story of this funk band that played as if their lives depended on it in front of less people then you could fit in an average size minivan. This is for the musicians who spend their nights dreaming of songs, line-ups, arrangements, and, yes, gimmicks. All for a couple hundred bucks, split five ways, and half-price beer. This is for when those two connect and, for a few days at least, the audience feels they just saw the equivalent of James Brown at the Apollo or the Who at the Marquee Club. This is for the band that, after the show, finds itself handing out flyers in a desperate plea to get a couple well-wishers to their next gig. This is for the audience that forgot to pick up a Reader on Thursday and can't figure out what to do on Saturday. This is for that band that works (at a "real" job) all week to pay rent, eat, lease a practice space, and save for that blond Fender they keep leering at in the window of Chicago Music Exchange. Basically, this website exists to match audience with band. To give the people that play a concise and inexpensive promotional tool and the people that watch an invaluable database for finding the music that can take up a bit more of their daily routine and give them one reason to wake up with a hangover. Who's doing this? Just a few people who want to see great bands reach great heights (and maybe get a thank you in the liner notes of a hit CD). We all have our dreams. This site exists (if only in a small way) to make them come true. Thanks for visiting. |
